Nathan Fletcher Leads Early Mayoral Election Poll

Former Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher has emerged as the front-runner in the special election for mayor, according to an early poll conducted by 10news and U-T San Diego.

The poll asked 800 San Diego adults, of whom 527 were registered and said they were likely to vote: “If the special election for San Diego mayor were today, who would you vote for?”

Fletcher received 30 percent of the vote, with councilmember Kevin Faulconer placing second with 22 percent. Councilmember David Alvarez came in third with 17 percent.

The special election takes place Nov. 19. But if one candidate doesn’t win more than 50 percent of the votes, then a run-off election is declared between the two top candidates.
