San Diego County Memorial Day Closures

City and county government offices will be closed today in observance of Memorial Day, but essential services such as law enforcement and emergency animal control will not be affected.

In the city of San Diego, the closure will apply to all administrative offices, city recreation centers, libraries and the Tecolote Nature Center.

City parking meters and time restrictions on street parking and in yellow zones will not be enforced, according to the city.

Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center will be open and so will city pools, the Robb Field Skate Park in Ocean Beach, the Rancho Penasquitos Skate Park, the Carmel Valley Skate Park, the Bill and Maxine Wilson Skate Park and the Charles L. Lewis III Memorial Skate Park.

Balboa Park and museums usually open on Mondays will be open, but administrative offices will be closed. Municipal golf courses will be open, but holiday rates will apply.

Chollas Lake will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

City officials said police and fire emergency crews will not be impacted, but the Family Justice Center will be closed. Those who need help with domestic violence should call 911 or the Domestic Violence Hotline at (888) 385-4657.

Trash, yard waste and curbside recyclables collection for customers served by the Environmental Services Department will be delayed by one day.

Trash and recyclables collection will return to its normal schedule on June 4, city officials said. The Miramar Landfill will remain open. All San Diego Unified School District schools will be closed, along with district offices.

All County of San Diego offices, libraries and animal shelters will also be closed today.

Most county parks, campgrounds and day-use parks will be open, except the Spring Valley Community Center, the Spring Valley Gym, the Fallbrook Community Center, the Lakeside Community Center and the Lakeside and the Spring Valley Teen Centers/REC Clubs.

The 4S Ranch Sports Park office will be closed, but adult hockey activities and all fields will remain open, according to the county.

City offices in El Cajon and Chula Vista will be closed.

Chula Vista recreation centers will be closed along with city pools and libraries. Public safety agencies will not be affected, and the city's Pubic Works Department will make sewer and street repairs on an emergency basis.

Trash pickup in Chula Vista will be delayed by a day, according to city officials.

The North County Transit District will follow its Sunday/holiday schedule today, running eight Coaster trains instead of the usual 20. Coaster connections at Carlsbad Poinsettia and Sorrento Valley stations will not operate.

Sprinter trains will run every 30 minutes between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and hourly before and after. Breeze buses will also operate on a holiday schedule, which is available at gonctd.com.

The Oceanside and Escondido transit centers will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Vista transit center will be closed, as will NCTD administrative offices.
