A 20-year-old woman died when a plane crashed Sunday afternoon in the Cleveland National Forest.
The crash occurred near Pamo Road, north of Ramona. The site of the crash was inaccessible by car so two helicopters from Cal Fire and the San Diego Sheriff's Department responded to assess damage and give aid to the two survivors.
The plane, described as a Cessna 172, was carrying three people in their 20s. Two men survived the crash with "moderate" injuries, Cal Fire Capt. Issac Sanchez said. They were transported to Palomar Hospital, he said.
Cal Fire reports the small plane flew out of Gillespie Field in El Cajon. The cause of the crash is still unknown. The FAA will investigate the crash.
