  • UPDATED: Because of uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, the 2022 San Diego Black Film Festival is now April 21-May 1. By mid-March, we will announce whether the festival will be in-person or virtual. Hopefully in-person! Standby... Established in 2002 and held each year during the last week of January, the San Diego Black Film Festival has grown to become one of the largest black film festivals in the country. We screen over 100 films each year: Comedy, Drama, Documentaries, Animation, GLBT, Horror, Religious, Foreign/African Diaspora, Shorts, Feature Films and music videos. As the first and largest black film festival of the year, numerous other festival reps scout new films from us for their event. Simply put, each year the San Diego Black Film Festival will premiere a large percentage of the independent black films that will prove successful throughout the year at other film festivals. This event is transitioning to Virtual due to new Omicron variant. Visit the website HERE, for updates on this event.

This groundbreaking show includes more than 80 works made by Latinx artists and makers from across the U.S. and explores how piñatas are designed, constructed and executed, along with the role they play in modern material culture and in artistic practices. Made with humor, biting wit and skilled craftsmanship, this is a vital and constantly evolving field for artmaking.
