  • The Adam Wolff Trio combines a love of the great American standards and jazz classics with a soulful swinging energy. Prepare to swing and be swung! About The Adam Wolff Trio: Adam Wolff has been playing the piano since he was eight years old. Raised in New York and Chicago, he spent years playing professionally and teaching music in Manhattan. Relocating to San Diego, Adam Wolff has become a widespread presence in the music scene here, playing with a diverse range of musical groups. Wolff’s music contains elements of excitement and hard swinging, soulful, creative musical expression. Caleb Furgatch has been playing the bass in the San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego regions for many years. He also resided in Amsterdam for a time, touring and playing with a variety of blues and jazz groups in Europe and the U.K. Equally adept at both electric and upright, Furgatch has his own distinct style, combining a strong groove feel with a great sense of adventure and humor. Percussionist Michael Evans has been a mainstay of San Diego’s music scene for decades. In his early teens he spent several years playing gigs around Southern California with a future superstar, Nathan East (bassist for Eric Clapton). Many San Diego vocalists ask for Evans as their drummer of choice, because of his listening skills and tasteful grooves. Visit: https://coronado.librarycalendar.com/event/sv-hold-34531

  • "The 27 Club" presented by the Six String Society brings to life the legendary music & stories of Rock & Roll’s most infamous club. A club in which all the members share at least one thing in common; they all died tragically at the age of 27. People have wondered if they were ever all together and with the power of the audience’s imagination this occurs one evening in a mythical Greenwich Village apartment (circa 1969) the night before Woodstock. The candles burn late into the evening as these iconic figures begin to descend into the ‘Living Room.’ As the evening progresses, each icon performs their timeless songs with our signature group jam for the ages. Our All Star cast includes Whitney Shay (as Amy Winehouse), Lauren Leigh Martin (as Janis Joplin), Trevor James (as Jimi Hendrix), Tony Suraci (as Jim Morrison), Austin David (as Kurt Cobain), & Robin Henkel (as the spirit of Robert Johnson.) Additionally, this production will feature BMA (Blues Music Awards) winner Ms. Laura Chavez on guitar. After making its debut at the legendary Belly Up Tavern on July 10th, 2016,"The 27 Club" production has consistently sold out performances in performing art centers, prominent music venues, Nevada casinos & music festivals. So come see this magical production come to life at the Center Theater on June 27. We will leave the light on for U! Six String Society on Facebook / Instagram
  • In this class the face is the focus. Using different techniques and mediums, we will find fun ways to approach an often-daunting subject. Students will be encouraged to bring photos of family, friends—even pets. We will discuss the best kinds of photos to use and how to use the ones you have even if they aren’t the best quality. There will be a model for one session, and we will try self-portraiture. This is an interesting way to improve your skills, find some new ones, and have fun while you are at it. Materials: A 9” x 12” pad of mixed-media paper; soft vine charcoal (willow is the best); woodless graphite pencil, 6B, 8B, or 9B (the higher the number the better); pencil sharpener; kneaded eraser. Other materials will be discussed in class, and the instructor will bring some supplies for students to try and share. Max students: 12 Athenaeum Music & Arts Library on Instagram and Facebook
