Homegrown Anti-Prom is the queer, experimental, and multi-generational prom that was never possible in school– here just in time for pride month. Doubling as an experimental electronic concert, the event features live performances by Tijuana-based electronic artist Surcarilita, and experimental producer Colloboh (Collins Oboh), alongside DJ sets by Maalbea, Onu Blu, and Victor Castañeda H. Visuals provided by VJ blunt diop (filmmaker and video artist kelechi agwuncha) and film installation by 2022 Sundance fellow Fox Maxy. The theme is “under the sea, into the sky”– prom-goers are encouraged to wear their weirdest and campiest interpretations of retrofuturist aliens, pirates, voyagers and planet jumpers. The event is a fundraiser for Homegrown Youth Collaborative, a cross-border and intergenerational collective growing an alternative space to learn, create, and imagine outside of the traditional education system in the San Diego and Tijuana borderlands. The San Diego Automotive Museum will be hosting a garage sale with items including a wide variety of collectibles, such as car-themed lamps and phones, home décor, toys, art, books, and more. Admission will be reduced to $3 with any Garage Sale purchase. All proceeds will benefit the San Diego Automotive Museum. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy beautiful Balboa Park and see gorgeous cars and exhibits at the San Diego Automotive Museum. The $3 admission will allow you to view many of the beautiful cars the Automotive Museum has to offer. The exhibit floor will have the Mercedes 540K, customized pieces of art such as the 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible, a 1932 Pick Up Truck like you’ve never seen, and a Datsun 260Z. The Museum of Making Music invites you to join us for an amazing concert event featuring The Pine Mountain Logs. This event is taking place at the Belly Up Tavern on Dec. 8, 2022. Proceeds will support the Museum's educational music programs. The Pine Mountain Logs are, in actuality, the insidious alter egos of the popular Southern California band Venice. Praised for their pitch-perfect harmonies and stunning live shows by superstars like David Crosby, who calls them "the best vocal group in the country and one of the best bands I have ever heard," and Jackson Browne, who calls them "quintessentially Californian," Venice has cultivated quite the reputation, both domestically and internationally, for their brilliant musicianship, remarkable vocal stylings, and lyrics that are intelligent and often laced with wit. In partnership with The Animal Pad and Papaya Pet Care, TrustedHousesitters is hosting an adoption event for one of the Animal Pad’s most recent rescues, Holly and her twelve puppies, from Tijuana, Mexico. Not only has TrustedHousesitters been covering the pups’ medical expenses, but they are also donating $100 per pup to The Animal Pad, matching Holly’s adoption fee and each pup adopted will receive a one-year membership to TrustedHousesitters.
