Shadyab is an Associate Professor at the University of California San Diego, where he holds joint appointments in the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science and the Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology, and Palliative Care in the Department of Medicine. A leading expert in the science of aging and longevity, Dr. Shadyab's research spans the epidemiology of aging, exceptional longevity, women's health, geroscience, and multi-omics approaches to understanding human health and longevity across the lifespan. Dr. Shadyab is a prolific and internationally recognized researcher, with over 300 publications in top-tier scientific journals. Through his research, Dr. Shadyab is helping to unlock the secrets of healthy aging and translate cutting-edge science into insights that can extend healthspan among older adults.

Dr. Rima Greenhill will discuss how a close reading of "The Winter’s Tale" will reveal the author’s detailed knowledge of Muscovite life, culture, climate, and Anglo-Russian marriage negotiations. And you will learn why the play contains the stage direction “Exit, pursued by a bear.” Dr. Greenhill is a Senior Lecturer in Russian language in the department of Slavic languages and literatures at Stanford University. Prior to that she taught at the School of Slavonic and East European Languages, London University where she also received her PhD in Russian language and literature. She is the author of "Shakespeare, Elizabeth and Ivan: The Role of English-Russian Relations in Love’s Labours Lost." Learn some basic sewing skills to mend your clothes. Instructors from the Visions Museum of Textile Art will teach you how to sew on a button, repair a hole or a tear in a shirt or sweater. Bring an item of clothing you would like to mend, and we will show you how fix it or patch it. You may also learn how to make and attach a creative decorative patch or embellishment to your, shirt, jacket or jeans. You may also practice sewing a button onto a heart or star shape and learn some basic sewing stitches to make a simple gift ornament. Supplies will be provided. Event is open to ages 12-18. They are opening with a “hybrid” store model, intentionally combining natural, organic, local, and specialty foods with mainstream, value-priced staples and culturally specific products from many traditions.
