  • An intimate exhibition honoring the wisdom, art, and stories of women living with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer. "Dreams Beyond Tomorrow" is a visionary hybrid project by Gala Semenova Photography, created in collaboration with the Womanity Portrait Foundation. Supported by the City of Chula Vista’s Performing and Visual Arts Grant (PVAG), artist Galina Semenova has spent the last year documenting a specific, poignant reality: the dreams of women living with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer. The Hybrid Vision: For a woman with a terminal diagnosis, the future is often a landscape of "ifs." There are places they may never visit, milestones they may not reach, and experiences that illness threatens to steal. In this exhibition, Galina Semenova uses a hybrid artistic practice to bridge this gap. By merging traditional fine art portraiture with AI-enhanced digital imagery, Galina does more than take a photo—she realizes a dream. Using the women’s own words and desires, she creates "Visual Manifestations" of the lives they wish to lead. This fusion of reality and digital imagination allows each woman to see herself within her dream, creating a permanent legacy that transcends her diagnosis. The Experience: Fine Art Gallery: A curated collection of large-scale works where classical photography meets cutting-edge digital art to create a "Dreamscape." The Documentary Film: Produced in collaboration with Emmy-nominated and international award-winning filmmaker Erin Pedersen, this cinematic screening moves beyond the lens to capture the powerful stories and shared wisdom of these women. The film explores the profound impact of living in the present moment—how it reshapes our relationships, our quality of life, and our entire living experience. Artist Talk: Galina Semenova shares her journey of capturing these "Dreams," joined by the extraordinary women who served as both the inspiration and the teachers for this project. About the Artist: Galina Semenova is an international award-winning fine art photographer and the Founder & CEO of Womanity Portrait Foundation. Her work is dedicated to reclaiming the "True Self" through self-compassion and visual storytelling. Dreams Beyond Tomorrow represents the intersection of her artistic practice and her humanitarian mission. Why Attend? In a world that is currently so divided and fast-paced, these women are our teachers. They show us how to actually live rather than just "run" every day. Their stories remind us that in the face ofnglobal and political troubles, all we truly have is each other—our families, our friends, and how we treat one another. This project is about fostering that empathy and connection that society often lacks today. I believe we shouldn’t need a terminal illness to start making these changes in our own lives. 1 p.m.: Doors Open & Gallery Viewing 2 p.m.: Documentary Film Screening 3 p.m.: Artist Talk & Participant Panel 3 p.m.: Community Connection Womanity Portrait Foundation on Facebook / Instagram

  • A World Premiere ADULT STORYTIME is a stirring collection of autobiographical monologues that explore the hardships and unexpected humor of caring for those we love across every stage of life. Set against a live blues composition that pulses beneath each story, the piece weaves music and memory into a richly textured theatrical experience. Shaped by the voices of relatives, coworkers, peers, and members of the public, Gobel crafts an intimate mosaic of testimony. Humor lives beside grief. Tenderness shares space with frustration. The result is a portrait of caregiving that is as complex and contradictory as love itself. Throughout the evening, guests are welcomed to reflect on and share their own stories, creating a communal space for truth telling and connection. Blending vulnerability with musical virtuosity, Adult Storytime offers blues through the weight of hesitation, laughter in recognition, and perhaps your own story illuminated on stage. Featuring Cecilia Cuevas-Torres, Dave Rivas, Meesha, and Wilfred Paloma, with Jasmine January leading The Storytellers Band made up of Jacob Gobel on keys, Kemet Gobel on bass, Kahir Brown on drums, and Alejandro Juarez on Guitar. Contains mature themes: grief, caregiving, family trauma, emotional vulnerability, and adult content Pay What You Choose Performance Thursday, June 11 This is an open seating event: https://app.ticketowl.io/o/aQjbg4XQ7VXZvjE4/event/aZTBRRIK_bp0P6IB OnWord Theatre: Website / Facebook / Instagram
  • A World Premiere A Hybrid Staged Reading - One Night Only "Air Quote Mike" by Marti Gobel is a sharp, satirical, and deeply human exploration of race, power, and the politics of language. Set across a family dinner and drawing from the playwright’s daughter’s real dating experiences, the play examines the dynamics between one’s lived experience, how we see ourselves, and more importantly, how the world sees us. The family of characters navigate a seemingly simple word choice that explodes into a larger reckoning with history, privilege, and accountability. Gobel masterfully interweaves biting humor with gut-punch honesty, drawing out the contradictions of well-meaning identity politics and liberalism, the defensiveness of denial, and the vulnerability of those forced to carry the burden of “teaching” their peers. What better time than today to consider what our words reveal, and what they conceal. Ticket price includes the cost of food. OnWord Theatre: Website / Facebook / Instagram
