  • Plan a Sunday visit that includes the full Nat experience, from bones to barnacles to brunch. After you’ve explored the galleries, head up to the roof to grab a bite and drink while soaking up the sunshine on our patio. When it comes to brunch, we mean business. That’s why we’re partnering with Johnny Rivera, local restaurateur known for starting the “Brunch Revolution“ with Hash House a GoGo, Great Maple, and the viral BLTBloodyMary (he's also owner of Wolf in the Woods). Rivera will be hosting a pop-up rooftop brunch on three dates this summer, featuring rotating restaurant concepts: June 14: Wolfish by Wolf in the Woods Your favorite Nat bartenders will be offering thirst-quenching mocktails, mimosas, and bloody marys. Enjoy it all with sweeping views of Balboa Park as the backdrop. Brunch is from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on each date. Seating is open, casual, and first-come, first-served. Food and beverages may be purchased a la carte, similar to Nat at Night. The rooftop is popular, so there may be a wait at times. (Interested in reserved seating? See VIP experiences below). *Access to the rooftop brunch requires Museum admission. All purchases support our mission to conserve nature through science and discovery. • Grand opera is coming to the California Center for the Arts in Escondido in July! Giacomo Puccini’s one-act masterpiece "Il Tabarro", Italian for "The Cloak", is a dramatic story of love, jealousy, and betrayal. Set aboard a river barge in Paris at the turn of the century, the soul-stirring melodies will transport you to a foggy night of deception and death. "Il Tabarro" is the least-performed of the three operas in Puccini’s triple-bill Il Trittico (The Triptych). While companies frequently mount double bills of Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi, they usually overlook "Il Tabarro", the first opera Puccini composed in the trio. In just one hour, you’ll be spellbound by the beauty and power of this music, whether you’re a devoted opera fan or a first-timer. That’s just half of the program, though. After the intermission, you’ll see the same story told in a completely different way: through neoclassical ballet. Featuring original choreography, this brand new adaptation of "Il Tabarro" reverses the narrative as the characters are now silent, speaking only through mesmerizingly expressive movements. This time, you’ll hear the same amazing orchestrations but without any vocal parts. Cinballera’s founders, dramatic coloratura soprano Tiffany Brannan and prima ballerina Rebekah Brannan, will be trading off as the leading lady in the opera and ballet, leading a talented cast of international performers and local professionals. "Il Tabarro" is presented in collaboration with the Temecula Valley Symphony, with Maestro John Mario Di Costanzo conducting. This production is Cinballera’s Season 4 opener, marking the 3-year anniversary of the company’s first performance in July 2023! • In 2001, filmmaker Aljafari, briefly imprisoned in his teens by the Israeli Occupation during the first Palestinian Intifada of 1989, set out on a north-to-south tour of Gaza in search of a man he’d met while behind bars, bringing along a local guide, Hasan, and a MiniDV camera with which to document his journey. Some two decades later, Aljafari revisited the footage he’d captured, and from it sprang this plaintive, lyrical travelogue, a loving record of cities, neighborhoods, and gathering places since reduced to rubble, of people whose current fates are unknown. Not a work of “nostalgia” for bygone times—incoming ordinance was a reality a quarter century ago, and the subjects of "With Hasan in Gaza" all seem to have their stories of savage raids and worse—but a work that brims with its maker’s affection for all that he sees and shows. • Based on a true story, the performer everyone wanted to see “live” in 1940s New York was Florence Foster Jenkins, an enthusiastic soprano whose pitch was far from perfect. Known as “the first lady of the sliding scale,” she warbled and screeched her way through the evening to an audience who mostly fell about with laughter. But this delusional and joyously happy woman paid little attention to her critics. Instead, she was surrounded by a circle of devoted friends who were almost as eccentric as she was. This hilarious comedy is appropriate for all ages and, although is not classified as a musical, it contains both music and dance. Visit: https://www.powpac.org/?utm_source=Vesta&utm_medium=Referral

  • This isn’t your sweet little comedy show—this is grown-ass comedy for people who’ve been through some things… and lived to roast it. Silver Sisters is a no-filter crew of comics 40+ serving up truth about dating AGAIN, aging bodies, bad decisions, great stories, and why we’re absolutely not disappearing quietly. And this time? We’re celebrating National Old Maid’s Day—because apparently being single past a certain age needed a label… so we made it funny. Featuring a killer lineup (and yes, a few brave Misters), this show is bold, relatable, and just unhinged enough to make you text your friends after like: “YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS.” Silver Sisters Comedy on Facebook
