From dinosaurs and woodland animals to mythical beasts or your own beloved pet, make cute miniature creatures using colorful wool and a felting needle. In this family crafting workshop, kids and caregivers work side by side to learn safe needle-felting basics, from the “stabbing” technique to shaping and attaching details like ears and tails. This hands-on workshop is best for kids ages 8 and up with an adult present. All materials are provided, no experience is needed, and you’ll leave with an adorable handmade creature! The Coronado Historical Association welcomes Captain Nancy Owen (ret.) for the next installment of the Fall 2025 Wine & Lecture Series. Captain Owen will be speaking on the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps. Nurses have served in the Navy since 1908 in a variety of duty stations, stateside and overseas, on board hospital ships, aircraft carriers, as flight nurses, on rapidly deployable medical and surgical teams, in fleet hospitals, in the White House, and even in Yosemite National Park. Captain Owen will share experiences from her surprise and unique deployment to Zagreb, Croatia, as part of Fleet Hospital SIX in support of Operation Provide Promise in 1994. For this exciting U.S. première, Art of Elan affiliate artists bring to life selected works from "Collective Wisdom," an album that explores how music might help people during hard times. Originally recorded by the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s ACO Collective and developed in partnership with the Hush Foundation, the album includes works by Australian composers who completed residencies and workshops in adolescent health units. Join Museum educators in using iPads and Adobe Express to create surreal digital collages. Learn about the process of removing the background of a photo to create a transparent PNG cutout.
