  • OTCYA presents "Seussical the Musical," a vibrant, family-friendly summer production at the historic Sunshine Brooks Theater (217 N. Coast Highway, Oceanside, CA)! “Oh, the thinks you can think” when Dr. Seuss’ most beloved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper! Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty bring to life Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a young dreamer with a big imagination—Jojo. Narrated by the mischievous Cat in the Hat, the story follows Horton as he discovers a speck of dust containing the Whos, including Jojo, a child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” As Horton protects the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, he also cares for an abandoned egg left behind by the carefree Mayzie La Bird. Though faced with ridicule, peril, and even a trial, Horton remains steadfast—with Gertrude McFuzz by his side, never losing faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are tested—and triumph. Seussical is a whimsical, heartwarming experience that is fun for the whole family! • Join us to get outside, immerse yourself in nature, and make a positive impact for the San Diego River! Join a community of like-minded volunteers working to restore the San Diego River Estuary - a highly sensitive habitat that is home to several endangered species. By removing invasive plants, you’ll directly support the return of native pollinators and wildlife, prevent erosion, improve water quality, and protect endangered species, like the California Least Tern. Together, we will create a healthier, more accessible natural space for the entire community to enjoy. This is a huge effort and a great opportunity for those looking to try out field work, connect with fellow nature lovers, make a meaningful difference for a critical and fragile ecosystem, and explore the beautiful estuary habitat! We’d love to see you there! RSVP Here: https://sandiegoriver.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=1087643 What to Expect: Many of these invasive plant species are small annuals that require hand pulling, so be prepared to get dirty. All necessary tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own gloves or safety glasses if preferred. Who Would Be Perfect for the Team: We welcome individuals from all walks of life! Retired folks can use their time and experience to contribute to the environment, while students seeking hands-on experience in habitat restoration can gain valuable knowledge and skills. Families are also encouraged to participate, as our activities are a great way to bond and instill a sense of stewardship for the natural world in children. If you are passionate about making a difference and want to help restore the San Diego River, you would be an ideal fit for our team. Please note: The meeting location is NEAR the address listed. We will meet at the small grassy area between the main parking lot, the San Diego River Bikeway, and Ocean Villa Inn. • Body Rock Dance Competition, the Iconic International Dance Event, is celebrating its 25th year of production. Beginning in the year 2000, BODY ROCK has grown to a huge platform for aspiring dancers in the Global Dance Community. With its humble beginnings on a gym floor in San Diego, our passion for dance and hip hop came from the spread of dance teams up and down California. We presented one of the first dance competitions to showcase street dance crews and professional choreography teams and the rest was history! With the creation of Youtube in the mid 2000’s, our show went viral and transformed the accessibility of dance crew videos and changed how dancers were viewed in the mainstream media. We continue to influence the atmosphere of local dance creating outlets for youth, maintaining a safe and inclusive staff, and promoting authentic community relationships. We not only helped to move our dance community forward, but created a path for the next generation of dancers. Our legacy includes groups and choreographers such as the Jabbawockeez, Keone & Mari Madrid, Kyle Hanagami, The Kinjaz and Tessandra Chavez. Some crews like Korea’s “Just Jerk” have also become Viral on Youtube and TikTok with over millions of views. Annually, our show draws a crowd of +2000 people and our participants now include groups from Mexico, Germany, New Zealand, China, Australia, Korea, Russia, the Philippines and Japan! We have also expanded and have qualifier shows in Asia and Latin America. Witness the culmination of the cultures, stories, and dances of crews from all over the world! 25+ teams will perform June 29, 2025. The event starts @ 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. *Due to the adult language and loud volume of some music, we do not recommend this show for small children/ infants. - All tickets are assigned seating - All tickets are non-refundable This event will sell out!!
