These tales are spun out by members of Storytellers of San Diego, and hosted by Kirk Faulkner. Transformative tellers are Marilyn McPhie, Walter Ritter, Emily Stamets, and Mindy Donner. Learn about the technical aspects and creative design of live theater with Nate Cargill, Associate Technical Director at OTC and Technical Director at Oceanside High School. Students will learn essential skills in theatrical design, lighting, sound, and other technical areas of theater production. They’ll also have the opportunity to work behind the scenes during the performances of "The Spongebob Musical Youth Edition." The summer camps will run June 29 – July 10, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Design), 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Tech) Extended care is available for an additional $50 per week. "Dance Dance Evolution (DDE)" is a full-scale, live dance band built from seasoned professional musicians who have shared stages with top artists and toured across the country. "Stories in Cloth: Communicating Through Textiles" is an exhibition presented by the La Jolla Historical Society in partnership with the Visions Museum of Textile Art. The show explores how textiles from around the world and throughout history have been used to communicate stories, identity, and shared experience. Focusing on three key themes—storytelling, activism and resistance, and cultural expression—the exhibition highlights historic and contemporary works, collaborations with local artists, and loans from institutions and artists. Stories in Cloth celebrates textiles as powerful tools for connection, creativity, and cultural expression. Featuring works by Charlotte Bird, Patricia Kelly, President of the San Diego People of Color Quilt Guild, Michelle Montjoy, Christine Lee, Maryam Bayat and Persian Place, Claudia Rodríguez-Biezunski of Sew Loka, and the Barona Cultural Center & Museum, this exhibition explores the stories, identities, and traditions expressed through cloth and textile art. Selections from the Visions Museum of Textile Art permanent collection further enrich the exhibition, creating a dialogue between contemporary makers and enduring textile traditions. Stick Men is a powerhouse progressive rock trio featuring legendary musicians Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, and Markus Reuter. With a combined experience of over 100 million records sold worldwide, this supergroup brings unparalleled musicianship and innovation to every performance. Tony Levin, renowned for his work with Peter Gabriel and King Crimson, is one of the most recorded bass players in music history. His mastery of the Chapman Stick, from which the band takes its name, allows him to cover both bass and guitar parts simultaneously. Pat Mastelotto, drummer extraordinaire, is known for his tenure with King Crimson and chart-topping success with Mr. Mister. His unique setup combines acoustic drums with electronic elements, creating a rich tapestry of rhythms and textures. Markus Reuter rounds out the trio with his self-designed touch-style guitar, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on a stringed instrument.
