The Granger Hotel and JFiN Collective welcomes the community to the opening of "Organica: Flora to Fauna," the second exhibition in the Granger Art Program's Border series, featuring 14 regional artists. Opening Thursday, May 21 at 8 p.m.! Daily Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily Curated by Jennifer Findley, Director of Arts and Culture at Oram Hotels and founder of JFiN Collective, "Organica" brings together fourteen regional artists from Southern California and across the border. The exhibition is installed across the hotel's salon, lobby, and art studio. The exhibition runs May 21 through December 31, 2026. The works span painting, sculpture, installation and mixed media, tracing the boundary between plant, animal and human life. From photorealist animal studies to speculative botanical ecologies, Organica places the human body within the same continuum as root systems, fungal networks, and nocturnal habitats. An exhibition about coexistence and the natural world on its own terms. The exhibition continues the Granger Art Program's evolving dialogue with artists engaged in ecological and speculative inquiry, including the ongoing art-in-residence initiative with Max Hooper Schneider, the first emerging artist commissioned for UC San Diego's Stuart Collection, whose work engages future ecologies and evolving life systems. The Spreckels Organ Society presents the 38th Annual San Diego International Summer Organ Festival, the largest organ festival in the United States, featuring the historic Spreckels Organ, the largest open-air musical instrument in the world, with 5,098 pipes of up to 32-feet long, and nine percussion instruments located throughout the building. This concert features “MusArt-Barcelona” with M. Teresa Sierra (piano) & Raúl Prieto Ramírez (organ) The summer-long festival – directed by Raúl Prieto Ramírez, Spreckels Organ Society’s Artistic Director and San Diego’s Civic Organist – takes place in the heart of Balboa Park, from July 13 through Sept. 7. These 90-minute, free admission concerts by acclaimed international artists are brought to the Spreckels Organ Pavilion each Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. by the Spreckels Organ Society. The concerts are free thanks to the support of the Society’s sponsors, donors, members and volunteers. Learn to Carve a Spoon! Choose from two upcoming dates: June 21 Or July 12, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Beginning spoon carving. In this introduction course of carving Woodworker Paul Maschka will be sharing the ancient style of green wood hand carving with simple but very precise hand tools–a small carving axe, straight blade carving knife and a curved hook knife. With proper techniques, green wood can be intricately sculpted into extremely beautiful, functional and unique pieces of art. Paul specializes in Viking-era cutlery. This Scandinavian style is still being crafted around the world. In this workshop, students will be creating a straight tea spoon or straight cooking spoon. This class is designed for the beginner as well as more experienced carvers. There is no prerequisite for this class. All of the necessary tools and materials will be available to students for this class. Tools and chopping blocks will be available for purchase after the class. No experience necessary. Experience a transformative journey with "A Walk with Yáamay," a series of free, site-specific guided “art walks” presented by New Village Arts. Led by a council of Indigenous artists and curators, these immersive tours blend natural exploration with live poetry, song, visual art, and performance. Drawing inspiration from "Yáamay: An Anthology of Feminine Perspectives Across Indigenous California," this experience invites you to become part of the narrative. Every participant will be provided with a journal and pencil to capture personal reflections, sketches, and insights as the performance unfolds around them- as well as a copy of the anthology. The "A Walk with Yáamay" program is proud to partner with Queer Sol Collective, the poets of Yáamay, and local parks and recreation spaces to bring this experience to life.

The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) will host its third EXPO Design Market in partnership with Mortis Studio and Kiku Room, on June 6 and 7. Taking place on Saturday, June 6 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday, June 7 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., EXPO is a two-day event series built to showcase the best of publishing, design, music, and community within San Diego and its neighboring communities across Southern California at a moment when access to arts funding and cultural spaces is increasingly uncertain. At its core, EXPO is an exchange of ideas, networking, and collaboration meant to encourage meaningful connection, and is guided by MCASD’s mission to inspire expansive thinking and an inclusive world through contemporary art.
