  • Retro Tapestry Weaving 4 weeks | Instructor Lauren Becker Downey Learn to weave! Explore the ins and outs of weaving including proper terminology and methods, how to read weaving drafts and where to buy weaving yarn. Practice plain weave, twills, tapestry, sumac, fringe making and more. Weave traditionally and create four richly textured and tactile samplers of fiber art. This class is designed to focus on learned skills rather than a final product. By the end of this class, you will have the confidence and the skills to weave just about anything on any size or type of loom. A frame loom will be built for you, learn to warp it and practice about a dozen basic weaving techniques. What you learn and practice in this class will equip you with life-long skills to enable you to weave on any loom of any size on your own. There will be homework and the loom is yours to keep. If you already know how to weave, tighten up your skills with more advanced work. Be the envy of all your friends when they see your handcrafted work. Please bring a heavy dinner fork and a pair of sharp scissors. Gold Paintings Go for the gold at this art workshop, where you will practice different ways to use this glowing pigment on canvas. Your work of art can be totally abstract with gold as the subject matter, or you can use metallic paint to elevate more traditional subjects. Explore media, techniques, & creativity in a supportive, skill-building environment. The Annual Figure Drawing and Painting Studio Hone your skills and try new techniques to define the human form in this art workshop! You’ll use different media, wet and dry, on both large and small-scale canvas and paper. Your creation could even be a great holiday gift for a loved one! All supplies and light refreshments for each workshop are included in the cost. A break for lunch and relaxed discussion will occur midday.
