  • The VVSD Stand Down Resource Event is a transformative two-day outreach event that unites San Diego's community around a shared mission: ensuring every veteran has access to the services and support they have earned. More than 150 service providers, government agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations gather at the Ingram Plaza at Liberty Station Arts District to deliver critical resources in a dignified, welcoming, one-stop-shop environment. This year's event will again extend its reach to active-duty service members and their families, while continuing to serve unhoused and at-risk veterans. VVSD will provide safe overnight accommodation with free transportation to ensure access for all participants. Not only is it a transformative resource event for unhoused and at-risk veterans, it is also our signature annual fundraiser, with sponsorship dollars directly supporting both the Stand Down weekend and VVSD’s life-changing housing, treatment, and supportive programs for veterans and their families throughout the year.   • The beach is calling! Fiesta del Sol returns to Fletcher Cove Beach Park for its 45th annual celebration, bringing a weekend of music, food, and family fun to Solana Beach. This free festival runs Saturday, May 30, 10 a.m.–10 p.m., and Sunday, May 31, 9 a.m.–8 p.m., and promises unforgettable performances against a stunning coastal backdrop. Headliners take center stage: The English Beat close out Saturday night with their iconic ska grooves, guaranteed to get the crowd dancing. Los Lobos bring their Grammy-winning mix of rock, blues, and Mexican folk for a soulful, high-energy performance. Fans can also enjoy Common Sense, whose California reggae vibes create the ultimate beachside soundtrack, and The McCharmlys, delivering heartfelt melodies and engaging showmanship.   • One of San Diego’s most anticipated culinary events is back as Taste of Little Italy returns for two evenings of exceptional bites and vibrant energy on Tuesday, June 16, and Wednesday, June 17 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Spanning Little Italy’s 48 square blocks, the annual event offers guests an immersive tasting experience through one of the city’s most dynamic dining destinations. Each night will feature a unique lineup of 20+ restaurants, giving attendees the opportunity to discover something new with every visit. From timeless Italian staples like housemade pasta and wood-fired pizza to inventive offerings including fresh seafood and globally inspired dishes, Taste of Little Italy highlights the depth and diversity of the neighborhood’s culinary scene. Guests will begin their evening at Piazza della Famiglia, where they’ll check in and receive their Taste Passport, guiding them to each participating stop. As attendees make their way through the neighborhood, they’ll enjoy curated tastings at each location, with the option to pause and take in the atmosphere at Piazza della Famiglia and Piazza Basilone, both featuring live music throughout the event.
