On Friday, July 3, Talking San Diego will welcome Senator Adam Schiff for a conversation with Harry Litman, former U.S. Attorney and Deputy Assistant Attorney General and the creator and host of Talking San Diego. Senator Schiff and Litman will discuss the challenges facing our democracy as it marks its 250th year and how to overcome them. Senator Schiff was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2024, after two decades of service in the House of Representatives. In the House, he served as Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and led the House impeachment inquiry and served as the Lead Impeachment Manager during the first Senate impeachment trial of President Donald J. Trump. He also served as a member of the January 6th Select Committee.

As the sun sets over UCSD’s Stuart Collection, Hornswoggle transforms the iconic LA Jolla project into a landscape of pure resonance. Thirty players spread across the grounds, their instruments' long, curling bells catching the last light as they send waves of sound rolling across the open air — hunting calls and fanfares, folk songs and chorales, music that feels as ancient and alive as the landscape itself. This is the feral beauty of the horn in its element: not confined to a stage, but dispersed, echoing, surrounding. This family-friendly event raises critical funds for lifesaving research, early detection initiatives, programs and services to help achieve a world free of lung cancer and lung disease. The event provides an opportunity for engaging video, photos and interviews with participants affected by lung disease and lung cancer. - 5K walk through the Flower Fields’ beautiful farm paths and Pacific Ocean views - Artists gardens, bird aviaries, park benches and activities for the entire family - A Discovery Zone with hands-on, life-changing educational activities focused on protecting your lungs - A children’s playground with wagon rides and a giant inflatable set of lungs - An important opportunity to unite with families from around the region to save lives by promoting lung health and ending lung disease Who: Individuals, families and corporate teams from throughout the North County and all of San Diego who have been impacted by lung disease and lung cancer will be available for interviews onsite. Why: Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths in California and across the U.S. Someone is diagnosed with the disease about every two minutes. But there is hope. More people are surviving lung cancer than ever due to increased awareness and advancements in detection and treatment. The five-year survival rate has increased to nearly 30%, which is a 26% increase over the last five years. The San Diego "LUNG FORCE" Walk has raised millions since 2014 to help end lung cancer. Nationally, "LUNG FORCE" has raised more than $35 million for lifesaving lung cancer research.
