Write Out Loud – an organization founded in 2007 with a commitment to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading literature aloud for a live audience – announces a three night run of "Mano A Monologue", written and performed by David Fenner and co-directed by Robert Alexander Owens and Write Out Loud Artistic Director, Veronica Murphy. The performances take place at the Dottie Studio Theater (Cygnet), part of the new Joan and Irwin Jacobs Performing Arts Center in Liberty Station. Presenting a selection of his greatest misses– whether by tough luck, naivete or plain bad judgement– San Diego native actor, David Fenner, returns to the stage with a collection of personal stories, one would normally prefer to forget. He seems to think that by re-creating these bad turns for the benefit of your amusement, they’ll take on some value after all. Maybe. The VVSD Stand Down Resource Event is a transformative two-day outreach event that unites San Diego's community around a shared mission: ensuring every veteran has access to the services and support they have earned. More than 150 service providers, government agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations gather at the Ingram Plaza at Liberty Station Arts District to deliver critical resources in a dignified, welcoming, one-stop-shop environment. This year's event will again extend its reach to active-duty service members and their families, while continuing to serve unhoused and at-risk veterans. VVSD will provide safe overnight accommodation with free transportation to ensure access for all participants. Convoy steps into its cultural era with the first Lunar New Year kickoff celebration ever hosted in the Convoy Cultural District. This festival blends the energy of an old-school street night market with a modern community gathering.
