The works are installations, sculptural against a gallery backdrop also transformed by vivid color in geometric shapes or whimsical patterns. In the former Memos Barrio Bike Shop space in Barrio Logan, Mi Vida Logan is a pop-up art show which opened on the Nov. 12, 2022 Barrio Art Crawl. On Saturday, November 11, Barrio Star is hosting a Dog Adoption Event, from 11a.m. - 3 p.m. The vibrant, modern Mexican Soul Food eatery is partnering with PAWS4Thought Animal Rescue to help some furry friends find their new, forever homes. The all-breed animal rescue organization focuses on pulling dogs from shelters when they are at risk of being euthanized, as well as abandoned, abused, and stray dogs in both the U.S. and Tijuana/Rosarito areas. PAWS4Thought’s primary goal is to rescue and rehabilitate these dogs in loving foster homes until they are adopted into their permanent “fur-ever” homes. The non-profit also works to educate the public by providing information on rescue procedures and conducting low-cost and free spay/neuter events to those who need these services. Opening Reception: Saturday, March 9, 5–8 p.m., during the Barrio Art Crawl Tarrah Aroonsakool, a first-generation San Diego native with Thai and Lao heritage, embarked on a journey of self-discovery through art. Aroonsakool’s creative path led them to New Orleans, where they found a supportive community and showcased their work globally after her first show in 2013. Motivated by a desire to foster a creative community in their hometown, Aroonsakool returned to San Diego, where they continue to push boundaries and transform their art, incorporating everyday objects and found materials into the work.
