  • On Saturday, January 24 from 10 a.m.-Noon, the Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park is hosting a tokidoki Unicorno trading meetup that was initiated and organized by a kid collector, with support from museum staff and volunteers. The event is free to attend and takes place in the museum café and retail area. Kids bring their tokidoki Unicornos to trade (1-for-1, no money), with tables provided and a simple, thoughtful structure designed to keep things welcoming and low-pressure. There will also be tokidoki-themed arts and crafts activities for kids who prefer to create or observe. What makes this event unique is that it grew from a kid's idea into a real proposal, pitch meeting, hand-drawn poster, and now a public program at the Comic-Con Museum. It’s a small but meaningful example of youth creativity, community building, and how institutions can support kid-led initiatives. Event details: • What: tokidoki Unicorno Trading Meetup • When: Saturday, January 24, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. • Where: Comic-Con Museum (café area), Balboa Park • Cost: Free (museum admission optional to visit the tokidoki exhibit) • Notes: Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult; volunteers and museum staff will be present • Instagram post: https://www.instagram.com/p/DTdZpRZFBnv/?img_index=1
  • Studio ACE Welcomes Joe Valentino’s Legacy Project: "What a Wonderful World" Exhibition Location: Studio ACE Gallery, 3861 Mission Avenue #B3, Oceanside, CA, 92058 Exhibition Opening Reception: Saturday, January 31, 2026, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. At 95 years old, artist Joe Valentino continues to astonish the art community with his creativity, vision, and generosity. His newest and most meaningful work, known as his Legacy Project, is titled "What a Wonderful World." Joe’s art is created from hundreds of tiny pieces of colored paper, meticulously cut into intricate shapes and assembled into stunning compositions. This remarkable project consists of nine individually crafted and framed works, each thoughtfully illustrating the lyrics of Louis Armstrong’s beloved song, "What a Wonderful World." Together, the pieces form a powerful visual tribute to beauty, hope, and humanity. Why a Legacy Project? Joe Valentino created this work with a clear and heartfelt intention: to place his art in a setting where children and young people actively engaged in learning and creating art could experience it every day. He wanted his work to live in the classroom, sparking curiosity, imagination, and inspiration for future generations of artists. Joe has chosen Studio ACE as the permanent home for this extraordinary project. Studio ACE is a nonprofit arts education organization dedicated to connecting, inspiring, and enriching lives through Arts, Community, and Education (ACE). The values of Studio ACE perfectly align with Joe’s desire to give back and nurture creative growth. Please join us at Studio ACE on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 5–7 p.m., to meet this remarkable artist and celebrate the unveiling of Joe Valentino’s Legacy Project: "What a Wonderful World." • Courage is not static, it is a deliberate choice to take the next action. Challenges will always emerge; whether in our personal lives or across the broader landscape of our world. These moments of adversity are opportunities to lean into community, to recognize the many strengths we each carry, and to amplify our collective power. This year, for the 38th annual All Peoples Celebration, we invite you to Choose Courage; to decide, with intention, to do what is right even when the fear and opposition are loud. Now more than ever, our voices must rise above hesitation. We must claim our dignity and echo the notion that any attack on one, is an attack on us all. At Alliance San Diego we know elevating, claiming, and protecting dignity is an act of unyielding compassion. We also know that choosing to be brave and courageous is a vital step in building community power. One cannot exist without the other. Let us not only choose to resist, but also remain curious, intentional, and courageous as we shape and guide what comes next. Together, let’s choose courage. Purchase your tickets today.
