Voices of Our City Choir invites the San Diego community to set sail on a musical journey at its Second Annual Sing-Along Concert: “Yacht Soul.” This lively, interactive concert blends the smooth sounds of classic soul with the breezy grooves of yacht rock for an unforgettable evening of music, community, and purpose. Guest artists include Bobby Cressey, organist for the San Deigo Padres and the San Diego Gulls. Guests are invited to sing along to beloved hits like “Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “That’s What Friends Are For,” and “Let’s Groove Tonight,” celebrating timeless music from legendary artists including Queen, Whitney Houston, Earth, Wind & Fire, Hall & Oates, The Doobie Brothers, Michael Jackson, and more. At Oceanside Museum of Art’s Summer Art Camp, kids get to spend their days making art, exploring ideas, and learning from our Gallery Educators in a welcoming Museum setting. Projects, subjects, and materials shift each week, so returning campers will enjoy fresh challenges. This allows returning campers to deepen their skills while creating entirely new artwork! What to Expect Campers will learn foundational art skills like drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpting, and mixed media while also building confidence, problem-solving skills, and creative independence. Activities include drawing cartoons with a professional cartoon artist, designing and building cardboard “automatic machines” inspired by the "Aaron Kramer: Sense of Wonder" exhibition, creating custom prints on tote bags inspired by the "Matrix Multipled: Hybrid Approaches to Printmaking" exhibition, plein air watercolor painting, collaborative mural-making, beach sketching, mixed media collage, and more. Beyond art techniques, campers practice observation, creative thinking, collaboration, and expressing their ideas visually. OMA's galleries are our inspiration labs, and every project encourages experimentation and trying something new (there’s no “right way” here!) Each day includes a walk to the Oceanside Public Library (OPL) where free lunch is provided by the Lunch at the Library program if needed, otherwise kids can bring their lunch from home. Gather your family, friends, and neighbors for a vibrant, all-ages Asian American Pacific Islander Cultural Celebration on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Oak Park Library (2802 54th Street, San Diego, CA 92105). This community-wide event is completely free, and no registration or RSVP is required. The celebration features an inspiring lineup of special presentations by local leaders, including Moana Alo M.Ed. Teens explore design & woodworking with a focus on chairs! Monday through Friday June 15 – 19, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Ages 13+ years welcome! This week of Summer Camp is all about designing chairs for every body! The Craft Collective welcomes teens for a week of chair design, building, and design exploration. Why are most chairs the same size? We’ll talk about how chairs can be made for every BODY and how comfort and designs affect our bodies. We’ll be sketching designs with pencil to paper and then we’ll move into model making and prototypes of chairs. Along the way, we’ll talk about the basics of how a chair is built, the various forces, and how failures can happen when not built properly. We’ll do mock-ups with plywood to refine our designs. Depending on how many design iterations each chairmaker goes through, by the end of the week, they’ll have some fun designs, models, lots of knowledge, and hopefully built chairs to show for it. Machine and tool safety is a big part of this camp. It is intended for teens with a keen interest in woodworking, design, or making chairs. Cell phones will be put away during this camp. Teens must be at least 13 years old to participate, since we’ll be using big machines in addition to hand tools. Sorry, no adults allowed. This camp is for teens, ages 13-17 years.
