  • All are welcome to the opening reception of "Connecting Currents" art exhibition. Meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments. Curated by the San Diego River Artists' Alliance, the exhibition runs February 3 through May 1. The San Diego River Artists' Alliance (SDRAA) is a collective of visual and 3D artists dedicated to creating artwork inspired by the San Diego River and its ecosystem. The alliance collaborates with the San Diego River Park Foundation (SDRPF) to support the foundation's work and long-term vision for the river. Since its founding in 2021, SDRAA has participated in numerous SDRPF events, including RiverFest, annual anniversary celebrations at the Discovery Center, and sponsored hikes. In 2023, the collective hosted an exhibition at Gallery 21 in Balboa Park, featuring work from 14 SDRAA artists. The alliance continues to actively pursue new group exhibitions that celebrate the river and raise awareness of its ecological significance. • In Chinese mythology, the horse has always stood as a powerful symbol of strength, freedom, and vitality. The “heavenly horse,” or Tianma (天馬), is said to soar effortlessly through the skies, connecting the realms of heaven and earth. One can imagine its mane streaming through the clouds embodying both grace and determination. Within the Chinese zodiac, those born under the sign of the horse inherit that same vivacious energy. They live with enthusiasm, drawing others in with their humor and charm. Impulsivity may at times lead them astray, but their optimism and resilience always guide them forward. Wherever they go, their warmth and vitality seem to stir the air itself, leaving behind a soft echo of hooves - and joy. This year, we’re introducing a theme for our fair: 萬馬齊心 人人歡樂 - When ten thousand horses move as one, everyone rejoices. It speaks to the harmony that arises when strength is united with purpose, when independent spirits gallop together towards a shared horizon. The horse, for all its freedom, also embodies the delicate balance of individuality and unity. Join us as we come together to welcome the year of the horse as one vibrant community!
