  • New federal work requirements are rolling out in stages across California’s public benefit programs, leaving many recipients in San Diego County wondering whether the changes apply to them.
  • Students will explore the Art of Careers by learning about real artists and creating their own artwork inspired by their styles and materials. Participants will paint an acrylic sunflower inspired by Vincent van Gogh, create an ocean scene using recycled materials inspired by environmental artist Angela Haseltine Pozzi, and design yarn crafts such as bracelets or pompom animals inspired by fiber artist London Kaye. At the same time, we'll discuss how artists turn creativity into real careers. Everyone will have the opportunity to share and present their artwork in a mini gallery walk at the end of the program.   • Join us for Studio Arts, when OMA transforms into an artist’s studio, offering skill-building workshops led by distinguished professor and arts educator. Inspired by world renowned artists, you will explore different media, techniques and subjects found in an artist’s studio. After a brief slide presentation for inspiration and context the session will continue with demonstrations. Georgia O’Keeffe’s Landscapes and Flowers Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s techniques in watercolor and acrylic painting, create your very own “magnified,’’ open compositions and close-cropped paintings at this workshop. This full day workshop held from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. is meant to get you in the art making groove and develop new approaches to seeing and creating artworks. Whether you have a lifetime practice or are new to expressing yourself, we exchange ideas and techniques in a supportive and challenging environment. Students of all levels are welcome to stretch their creative muscles and build community with us. All supplies and light refreshments for each workshop are included in the cost.
