  • Committed to serving its West Coast communities, Circle K is celebrating American Red Cross Month with 40 cents* off per gallon on fuel this Thursday, March 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. The global convenience store brand will donate a portion of the proceeds from the three-hour event to the Red Cross in support of its urgent needs. Locations across California, Oregon and Washington will participate in the event, which follows a similar January event, which raised funds for Red Cross’s disaster relief efforts amidst the devastating wildfires that swept across Southern California. Taught by Yael Kent, your little one will explore crafts across various mediums. We will explore through sensory activities, crafts and stories while developing fine motor skills. Littles learn best by doing and playing. We practice handwork and workplay. We “play” with natural objects and materials, keeping a consistent rhythm to our time together so that your child gains confidence each time they come. Our projects are planned so that mini makers will build skills while satisfying their need to explore. Projects are safe, non-toxic, earth-friendly, and full of creativity. It’s important that your child bring water in a refillable bottle and a snack (no candy or peanut products please) in case they are hungry or thirsty during our time together. In addition, if your child is enrolled in a nearby camp elsewhere in Liberty Station in the afternoon, and their camp begins as ours ends, we are happy to walk your child to their next camp. Wearable Art Summer Camp is all about exploring fiber arts and the wide world of wearable art! Does your child have an interest in fiber arts and learning macramé, embroidery and creating fun wearable art? Make original pieces of wearable art – lockets, pins, patches and more. This program fuses personal expression with design for daily use. Each week we’ll explore a new kind of wearable object, working with wire, fabric, shrinky dinks and fabric paint. Students will leave with a range of unique pieces and the fabrication skills to create or re-imagine their closet. In this fun week, kids will explore STEAM principles through: *Learning the science of upcycling through lots of traditional–and untraditional–mediums, *Exploring traditional techniques using needle & embroidery floss to create patterns, *Making original pieces of wearable art–lockets, pins, patches and more, *Taking a fun dive into the arts via lots of cool craft mediums, *And, applying conceptual math to macramé, the visual art of knots! Apt4Music will be supervising kids for outdoor play and lunchtime from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. The purchase of the Camp Lunch Hour is for supervision only during this hour.   • Kids explore fiber arts & repair a favorite stuffy or plush toy! Monday through Friday July 21 – 25 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Ages 7-12 years welcome! This week of Fiber Arts Summer Camp is all about exploring and experimenting with fiber arts! Does your child have an interest in fiber arts and learning to dye, sew, macramé and mend their favorite worn-out dolls & stuffed animals? In this fun week, kids will explore STEAM principles through: *Learning the science of Indigo natural dye, *Exploring traditional techniques using needle & thread, *Mending their own favorite plushies by engineering creative (& often colorful solutions), *Taking a fun dive into the arts via lots of cool craft mediums, *And, applying conceptual math to macramé, the visual art of knots! Note: We recommend that you wash your stuffy ahead of time, allowing time for it to dry thoroughly. Use your best judgement on whether it should go in the washing machine or be gently hand washed. If your child doesn’t have a stuffy to repair, let us know as we have items to learn and practice on in the studio. This camp is for kids ages 7-12 years.
