Land meets sea once again at the 2nd Annual Fins & Flippers 5K, with a shark-inspired twist as we celebrate the upcoming debut of the all-new Shark Encounter, opening this spring. Whether you’re running or strolling along the course, this exciting 3.1-mile route will guide you through the scenic grounds of SeaWorld San Diego, passing by your favorite animals and exhibits. Throughout the course will be beautiful views of Mission Bay, ocean-inspired surprises, photo ops with aquatic themes, and lively, sea-inspired characters! In addition to the 5K Run, we're excited to offer the Kids Fun Run – the perfect opportunity for little ones to join in on the oceanic adventure. This year's Annual Membership Meeting will center on the timely theme, "Reimagining Border Infrastructure: Lessons from CBX." As a senior leader at CBX, Eduardo Schutte will share insights into how the organization has transformed regional connectivity by linking San Diego directly to Tijuana International Airport through a unique binational terminal. His remarks will explore what the CBX model can teach us about the future of border infrastructure, mobility, economic integration, and cross-border collaboration. Gustavo Solis, an award-winning journalist covering the U.S.-Mexico border region for KPBS, will host the conversation, bringing his deep expertise and on-the-ground perspective to guide a dynamic and engaging discussion. With more than 30 years of experience across the travel and hospitality industries, Eduardo has held leadership roles in sales, business development, revenue management, and distribution at organizations including Grupo Posadas, TravelClick, LXR, Hilton, and Amadeus. Learn to craft your own stunning bronze jewelry using bronze metal art clay. This two-session workshop is an ideal introduction to metal, clay, and jewelry making, guiding students through the complete process from shaping to finishing. Returning students are welcome and may work on more advanced or complex projects. Day 1: Students will learn how to form, texture, and refine their pieces, create an integrated bail, and prepare their bronze metal clay for firing. Projects typically include earrings (or charms) and a pendant. Day 2: Students will learn how to finish their fired bronze pieces, apply patinas, and do the basic wire wrapping to add beads and attach earring wires. Each student will leave with their own beautifully finished bronze jewelry. Most students can make more than one pair of earrings and a pendant, depending on size and complexity.
