They will also be introduced to pointillism, creating both an individual piece and a collaborative group artwork in this vibrant painting style.   • After-School Painting Class // Ages 6-8 This painting class is designed especially for young artists who are ready to explore the colorful world of painting! Each week introduces a new artistic skill—like mixing colors, using different brushstrokes, and creating simple shapes and textures—while encouraging kids to express their own unique ideas. Students will work with acrylic paints on paper and canvas as they create landscapes, animals, abstract art, and more. Throughout the course, artists will: - Discover primary and secondary colors - Practice brush control and basic painting techniques - Learn how to plan and build a picture step-by-step - Explore creative themes that spark storytelling and self-expression - Build confidence as young artists through positive guidance and fun learning environment By the end of six weeks, each artist will have a portfolio of artwork and a stronger understanding of how to use paint as a tool for creativity. This class is perfect for kids who love to make, imagine, and explore, and who are ready to learn something new, or refine existing painting skills. Over the course of six weeks, they’ll learn safety practices, stitching basics, machine navigation, and troubleshooting, while growing more confident in their technical abilities. As they explore idea development and practice foundational skills, students will create both functional and decorative pieces. The class wraps up with fun and functional final projects that showcase their creativity and growth.   • Learn to throw ceramics on a wheel! Saturdays, January 10, 17, 24 & February 7, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., with the last class of the series from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. In this 4-week course, 3-hour per class series (each class is longer than our 5-week series), you’ll build a strong foundation in working with clay on the pottery wheel. Instructor Shachi Shah will teach you how to prepare clay, center it on the wheel, and create forms like cylinders, bowls, and mugs. You’ll also be introduced to trimming techniques and adding surface details like handles and texture. After a break to allow your work to be bisque fired, you’ll return for the final session to glaze and complete the cycle from raw clay to finished ceramic. This is a slow-paced, supportive class where exploration and experimentation are encouraged. Whether you’re brand new to clay or returning after a break, you’ll be guided at your own rhythm — with plenty of space to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow your confidence on the wheel. Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the last class. Beginners welcome. By focusing on techniques to confidently create functional and aesthetic pottery, we will learn creative design, how to throw on the wheel, trimming and glazing!   • Explore ceramic handbuilding & funky glazes! Mondays, January 5, 12, 19, 26, February 9, from 6-8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6-9 p.m. Ages 15+ welcome! In this 5-week series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with underglazes, slips, glaze, and various experimental materials. Students will complete multiple projects throughout the course with an artistic and creative approach to decorative designs. Inspired by printmaking, painting and drawing, we will explore image transfers, mark making, layering, stencils, and more! Through the use of technique and materials, students will explore the fusion of 2D art and 3D form. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors through the course. The instructor will have a wide array of custom decorative materials for use and sale. Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the last class. All materials provided.
