Starting at the age of 8, he spent ten years studying classical piano performance, music theory, and creative music expression. Raised in New York and Chicago, he returned to New York City in the 80s and spent many years playing music full-time in Manhattan. While living in New York, Wolff studied with several great pianists: Barry Harris (Keeper of the Bebop Flame), Mike Longo (Musical Director for Dizzy Gillespie), and Kenny Werner (Author of Effortless Mastery and a global music legend). He also performed/recorded with many great jazz players including Victor Lewis, Calvin Hill, Rebecca Franks, and others. He was fortunate to record with two of Ahmad Jamal’s drummers: Vernel Fournier and Frank Gant. (Vernel Fournier is credited with developing the iconic drumbeat used in Jamal’s recording of “Poinciana” in the 1950s.) During this time, Wolff also taught music at the Johnny Colon School of Music in East Harlem, as well as playing in clubs, restaurants, cafes, and private engagements throughout the New York City region. In 1987, he was approached by Long Island University in Brooklyn and offered a full music scholarship. He received a degree with honors in 1990. Relocating to San Diego in the 1990s, Adam Wolff performed with different groups, ranging from jazz to popular dance music to creative expression performances. In 2004, he co-founded Blue44, a music collective with a distinctive theme of “ambient grooves”. Wolff’s music contains key elements of excitement and hard-swinging, soulful, creative musical expression. These elements come through in all his performances. She welcomes you to the show, thanks you for coming, and the band rips into its opening chords. As dancers rush to the floor, the smile on Mercedes’ face grows more radiant; you’re in her world and nothing else matters. You might think she was destined to do this, but you’d be wrong. Moore grew up doubting her skills, “I didn’t think that I could sing.” She says. “I didn’t think it was possible.” That was then, this is now. Today, fronting her own band, Mercedes works hard to be more than a voice. She wants fans to feel the music, the way she feels the music. Watching faces in the crowd on this night, as Mercedes swings through an extensive playlist of ballads, blues, and soul shakers, it’s obvious she has them right where she wants them. As a nine-time San Diego Music Award nominee, Moore performs regularly with some of Southern California’s premier musicians. When asked, Moore is straightforward about the multitude of players. “It just makes you a better singer.” She smiles. “And different people have different strengths. Plus, I want to learn, so I can be better.” It appears to be working. Mercedes Moore is currently juggling four major projects and her music can range from blues, gospel, and R&B and swing. From June 3-7, 2026 DISCO RIOT will present San Diego’s signature queer-focused movement-arts festival, Queer Mvmnt Fest. The festival presents artists who identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ dance community from San Diego and beyond. Queer Mvmnt Fest features queer-focused spaces as well as events open to the general public, including performances, workshops, artist Q&A’s, and movement-based short films. This program addresses inequity through an intersectional lens by centering the work of queer artists who additionally identify as BIPOC/Global Majority and Disabled. This year, we will be featuring four artists with one being an international artist. We are also featuring a Variety Showcase with 10 unique artists, highlighting many eclectic performance forms such as drag, burlesque, and circus acts. The festival also features an International Film Screening, and 6 dance classes and workshops offered by the Performing Artists throughout the weekend. Artists will be coming to San Diego from Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, Raleigh, and Montreal, Quebec along with an array of local San Diego artists. More than a foot of rain could fall across Big Island of Hawaii, according to NOAA.

Celebrate the holiday season with A Charlie Brown Christmas at Gaylord Pacific. The immersive holiday attraction, ice!, brings favorite scenes from the beloved TV special to life through magnificent sculptures hand-carved from more than two million pounds of ice. Guests can explore memorable Charlie Brown and Snoopy moments created from 6,000 blocks of ice, follow Charlie Brown’s search for the true meaning of Christmas, and soar down ice slides surrounded by larger-than-life sculptures of the Peanuts gang. The experience takes approximately 20–40 minutes and is open to all ages. Children ages 3 and under receive free admission. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
