Members have a voice in how the store operates, profits are reinvested locally, and decisions are guided by shared values rather than distant shareholders. Food co-ops often prioritize local farmers and producers, fair wages and ethical sourcing, environmental responsibility, inclusive access to healthy food, democratic ownership, and transparency.
