He loves his wife, Rachel, his dogs, psychoanalysis, and teaching guitar. Joy Fuliga: Fil-Am acoustic singer-songwriter based in San Diego, writing sad melodies in an attempt to ease the mind and heal the heart. Lyrics explore topics of mental health, culture, identity, and community. Aly Rowell: Aly Rowell is a writer and folk musician based in San Diego, CA. Her forthcoming full length record, "Where It All Goes," will be released in October 2026. David Liestman: David Liestman is a songwriter, poet, and stuttterer. He writes about grief and analog art making. David is studying writing at pratt institute in new york city, and is currently fascinated by cats and palm trees.

"The Cost of Silence": An Immersive Art Installation & Film Experience May is Mental Health Awareness Month - a time to bring visibility to the inner experiences we don’t always have language for. "The Cost of Silence" is a multimedia art installation and short film exploring women’s emotional and mental health experiences; what is often unseen, unspoken, and unacknowledged, and the journey from silence into expression, awareness, and reclamation. Created by multidisciplinary artist and creative director Isabelle “Izzy” Atkinson, this project marks her first large-scale artistic work, bringing together storytelling, photography, sound, movement, and film into an immersive and deeply human experience. Developed following a painful and transformative period in her life, the project is rooted in the belief that what we carry internally deserves to be seen, felt, and shared. Through conceptual photography and cinematic storytelling, the installation invites guests into the emotional landscape we don’t always have space to express; grief, longing, rage, resilience, and becoming. This exhibition presents Marita Setas Ferro’s textile sculptures as material reflections on marine ecosystems, care, and environmental precarity. Through crochet and knitting, techniques rooted in heritage and slowness, marine forms emerge as soft architectures shaped by repetition, labor, and attention. The works engage sustainability as an embedded practice, using recycled and upcycled materials to foreground responsibility within the act of making itself. Light, texture, and scale evoke the fragile equilibrium between regeneration and erosion that defines underwater life today. Rather than depicting nature, the sculptures invite proximity and embodied response, allowing touch, softness, and vulnerability to operate as forms of knowledge. Situated between craft and contemporary sculpture, the exhibition proposes sustainability as an ethical relationship between material, memory, and the fragile systems we inhabit and risk losing. Drawing on the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego's permanent collection, this presentation explores how contemporary artists over the last 50 years have engaged with United States history and reflected on it through their practices. Through a virtual tour of selected works, we will examine how artists have reimagined historical narratives — with a special focus on San Diego histories and the stories that shape our region.
