A World Premiere ADULT STORYTIME is a stirring collection of autobiographical monologues that explore the hardships and unexpected humor of caring for those we love across every stage of life. Set against a live blues composition that pulses beneath each story, the piece weaves music and memory into a richly textured theatrical experience. Shaped by the voices of relatives, coworkers, peers, and members of the public, Gobel crafts an intimate mosaic of testimony. Humor lives beside grief. Tenderness shares space with frustration. The result is a portrait of caregiving that is as complex and contradictory as love itself. A World Premiere A Hybrid Staged Reading - One Night Only "Air Quote Mike" by Marti Gobel is a sharp, satirical, and deeply human exploration of race, power, and the politics of language. Set across a family dinner and drawing from the playwright’s daughter’s real dating experiences, the play examines the dynamics between one’s lived experience, how we see ourselves, and more importantly, how the world sees us. The family of characters navigate a seemingly simple word choice that explodes into a larger reckoning with history, privilege, and accountability. Gobel masterfully interweaves biting humor with gut-punch honesty, drawing out the contradictions of well-meaning identity politics and liberalism, the defensiveness of denial, and the vulnerability of those forced to carry the burden of “teaching” their peers. This workshop demystifies the process by breaking down how experience, scale, medium, and market shape value, and offers strategies for maintaining consistent, professional pricing—whether selling independently or through galleries. We’ll also cover online sales platforms like Saatchi, Fine Art America, RedBubble, and Society6, outlining what artists need to succeed, from strong images and bios to a cohesive body of work. Participants will leave more confident in pricing their art and better prepared to expand their reach online.
