Get an inside look at the recently planted Central Gardens, the beautiful landscaping that surrounds the iconic Botanical Building and lily pond. Made up of nine distinct thematic gardens, the Central Gardens displays a rich variety of plants representing the region’s unique biodiversity. Forever Balboa Park offers thematic tours that highlight the park’s horticultural wonders on the first Saturday of each month. Led by park docents and horticultural experts, the 60-minute tours leave from the Visitors Center at 10 a.m. unless otherwise indicated. Suggested donation: $5. Facing failure at home, he risked everything to find inspiration in the wilderness. Amid storms, solitude, and a deepening bond with his young son, Kent created the art that launched his enduring career.
