The Spreckels Organ Society presents the 38th Annual San Diego International Summer Organ Festival, the largest organ festival in the United States, featuring the historic Spreckels Organ, the largest open-air musical instrument in the world, with 5,098 pipes of up to 32-feet long, and nine percussion instruments located throughout the building. The summer-long festival – directed by Raúl Prieto Ramírez, Spreckels Organ Society’s Artistic Director and San Diego’s Civic Organist – takes place in the heart of Balboa Park, from July 13 through Sept. 7. These 90-minute, free admission concerts by acclaimed international artists are brought to the Spreckels Organ Pavilion each Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. by the Spreckels Organ Society. The concerts are free thanks to the support of the Society’s sponsors, donors, members and volunteers. This season, the Monday evening concerts feature artists from five different nations, making it a truly international festival. The variety of concerts is broad with something for everyone. The San Diego Underground Film Festival (SDUFF) returns May 1–5, 2026 for its eleventh edition, with a new home at UC San Diego's Suraj Israni Center for Cinematic Arts. SDUFF XI marks a bold shift toward global feature cinema, presenting West Coast and North American premieres fresh from the world's most prestigious festivals — including Locarno, IFFR Rotterdam, TIFF, Sundance, and MoMA's Doc Fortnight — alongside a curated program of award-winning experimental shorts. Highlights include James Benning's 8 Bridges, Sky Hopinka's Powwow People, Rajee Samarasinghe's Spirit Award–winning Your Touch Makes Others Invisible, and the festival's first-ever Feature Film Competition. Deadlines for entry are approaching for the 2026 San Diego County Fair’s expansive competitive exhibits program — a beloved tradition that invites community members of all ages to showcase their talent, creativity and craftsmanship. With dozens of opportunities spanning arts, crafts, culinary creations and agricultural achievements, the San Diego County Fair celebrates and rewards the remarkable work being done throughout our region. Competitors have the chance to earn awards, cash prizes and, of course, those iconic blue ribbons. At the heart of the Fair experience, these competitions transform everyday hobbies into extraordinary exhibits. They celebrate the passion and skill found throughout San Diego County — honoring first-time entrants, seasoned competitors, students, professionals and families alike. This year’s theme, “Once Upon a Fair,” celebrates storytelling in all its forms — and every entry tells a story. A quilt stitched over months. A photograph captured in a fleeting moment. A perfectly preserved jar of summer fruit. A student’s first award-winning painting. Each competition entry becomes part of the larger story that unfolds across the Fairgrounds each summer.
