The San Diego State University Pow Wow is a cultural and social event that is held annually to bring together the Native American community to SDSU. SDSU has the reputation of having one of the longest running pow wows organized by a university in California. This event is open to the public and is a partnership between the Native Resource Center, the SDSU American Indian Studies Department, the Native American Student Alliance and the American Indian Alumni Chapter of SDSU. From Exploration to Conservation Every year, we host an annual State of Biodiversity Symposium, bringing together scientists, conservationists, and nature lovers to discuss biodiversity in our region and how we can continue to preserve it. They celebrate the passion and skill found throughout San Diego County — honoring first-time entrants, seasoned competitors, students, professionals and families alike. This year’s theme, “Once Upon a Fair,” celebrates storytelling in all its forms — and every entry tells a story. A quilt stitched over months. A photograph captured in a fleeting moment. A perfectly preserved jar of summer fruit. A student’s first award-winning painting. Each competition entry becomes part of the larger story that unfolds across the Fairgrounds each summer.
