This time the North Park Community Fair, hosted by Verbatim Books, is having a smaller and curated version of the popular annual North Park Book Fair. This more close-knit gathering features a select group of bookstores and literary vendors, putting a spotlight on some of the independent sellers that make San Diego's book community so vibrant.   • Join the Center Chorale, Pacific Coast Chorale, Guest Singers and Soloists with Orchestra Tutti of San Diego for a presentation of a symphonic work written for J.R.R Tolkien’s "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy." This exciting score, taken from the Tolkien films, includes 85 instrumentalists, 100 singers, soloists and children’s chorus. The music of "The Lord of the Rings" creates a new and dramatic live concert experience, led by Guest Conductor James Beauton of San Francisco. "The Fellowship of the Ring," composed by Howard Shore, won the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 2001. The score incorporates unusual percussion instruments, including Japanese taiko drums, metal bell plates and chains beaten upon piano wires to depict the mythical creatures called Orcs. The virtuoso sisters began their musical lives together, filling their childhood home with Bach suites and old-time tunes alike. It was on their own, however, following divergent paths through disparate musical traditions, countries, and cultures, that they both arrived as performers and composers at the highest levels of contemporary string music.   • Ingrid Michaelson with Allie Moss and Hannah Winkler Grammy and Emmy Nominated singer-songwriter/composer Ingrid Michaelson is a force in the music industry, known for her distinctively soulful folk-pop style. Her music is released on the label she founded, Cabin 24 Records, including her latest studio album "For the Dreamers," as well as her gold and platinum hits, "The Way I Am," "Girls Chase Boys," and "You and I." She's scored songs for television, including “Little Fires Everywhere” (Emmy nomination, Hulu) and “Tiny Beautiful Things” (Hulu), and was executive music producer for Apple TV+’s “Slumberkins,” creating original songs for the series. She made her Broadway on stage debut in "Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812" and made her Broadway debut as a composer in 2024 writing the music and lyrics for the musical, "The Notebook."
