From May 13–16, 36 accordionists from across the United States will gather in San Diego for a 4-day collaborative music event culminating in a public performance on Saturday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan Community Center in El Cajon. The final concert, the San Diego Accordion Extravaganza, features a large ensemble of musicians who have rehearsed virtually for six months before coming together in person. The program includes music from film and swing classics as well as orchestral works, aiming to challenge perceptions of the accordion in modern music. International touring duo Squeeze Play (Kim and Dan Christian) will headline the event. “This is the accordion unleashed—explosive, virtuosic, and powerful enough to sound like a full orchestra and a swinging big band.”

His forthcoming exhibition, "Paintings and Mixed Media Works from the Early 1960's to the Present," offers a rare, comprehensive look at the evolution of an artist whose work has consistently challenged conventions while maintaining a distinctive visual language unmistakably his own. Born with an innate curiosity about the possibilities of paint and form, Morris emerged during a pivotal moment in American art history. While the art world of the 1960s was dominated by Pop Art and Minimalism, Morris carved out his own territory, developing a unique approach that synthesized elements of abstraction, figuration, and architectural space. His early works from this period already demonstrated the sophisticated color sensibility and compositional rigor that would become hallmarks of his mature style.

What is this…"Artist’s Way"? Maybe you had a friend who read through it years ago and made some significant breakthroughs. Or you’ve had the book on your bookshelf and promised yourself–this is the year I open it!–every year? Or you took a class long ago…but don’t remember much. Wherever you are at, this is for ANYONE who wants to live a more creative, intentional life. "The Artist’s Way" is for novices and working artists of all types, including writers, visual artists, actors, dancers, musicians…ANYONE who recognizes their innate creativity. In a supportive and safe setting, we will: - Acquaint ourselves with the basics and tools of "The Artist’s Way" (by Julia Cameron) - Work on activities meant to break through some of our creative blocks and give us better insight into creative work we might consider pursuing - And more! Week 1 will be an intro to the program. The next six weeks will be devoted to the chapters (and creative practices), and the last week is a final creative presentation by each student.
