From May 13–16, 36 accordionists from across the United States will gather in San Diego for a 4-day collaborative music event culminating in a public performance on Saturday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan Community Center in El Cajon. The final concert, the San Diego Accordion Extravaganza, features a large ensemble of musicians who have rehearsed virtually for six months before coming together in person. The program includes music from film and swing classics as well as orchestral works, aiming to challenge perceptions of the accordion in modern music.
