Located outside the city of Temecula, the blaze is currently about 2,500 acres in size but only 15% contained, officials with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said. -
An evacuation order for the Highland Fire was issued by CalFire on Tuesday morning for north of the San Diego County line south of Highway 79, east of Forest Route 8S07 and west of Crosley Truck Trail. -

A wind advisory remains in effect for San Diego County desert and mountain areas until 11 a.m Monday, with expected west winds from 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 65 mph, according to the National Weather Service. -
Barbuda and the Leeward Islands are in the crosshairs of Hurricane Tammy as Tropical Storm Norma moves toward inland Mexico. -
Forecasters say the storm system is expected to be at or near hurricane intensity as it makes landfall in the Leeward Islands on Friday. Up to 10 inches of rain and 3 feet of storm surge could follow. -
Above average high temperatures for inland areas were expected through Thursday, as much as 15 to 20 degrees above average for the inland valleys. -
High pressure to the north is likely to bring warming to San Diego County for Wednesday and Thursday with high temperatures in the valleys for Thursday in the mid 90s to around 100, the National Weather Service said Tuesday.
