Last night the chambers of the Escondido City Council were packed. People in attendance passionately spoke for and against a proposal to punish landlords who rent apartments to illegal immigrants. At the end of the tumultuous discussion, the council voted 3-2 in favor of the proposed ordinance. It’s expected to get final approval on a second vote in two weeks.
