The "Balboa Park App" was developed by Guru, a local tech company, in partnership with the Balboa Park Online Collaborative.

"We list out everything from the museums to food to the activities so people can really have a wonderful day there and get to see everything they want," said Hilary Srole, a Guru co-founder.

Srole said Balboa Park can be so overwhelming that people often park their cars and wander into the first museum they see. The app has features that allow patrons to plan an itinerary.

It also includes hiking trails, gardens, dog parks and picnic spots. There’s a bucket list for things to do in the future and a way to leave strategies and tips for others.

It also helps you find your car.

"You can get out of your car, click the 'Find My Car' option and it will save where you are in Balboa Park," Srole said. "You can walk to wherever you want to go for hours and when you’re ready to leave, click 'Find My Car' again and it will guide you back to the correct parking lot."

Roughly 6,000 people have downloaded the free app, which is available on iTunes or Google Play.
