Where To See Fireworks In San Diego County

Preparations were underway Thursday for the 15th annual Big Bay Boom pyrotechnics display, which will shoot off fireworks from four barges on San Diego Bay on Independence Day.

The Port of San Diego, which sponsors the Fourth of July show, will also offer a display off Imperial Beach.

Port Chairman Dan Malcolm called them "the best and most iconic waterfront fireworks shows in Southern California."

"This is the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day, whether you're watching from San Diego, Coronado, Imperial Beach or on television," he said.

The Big Bay Boom is scheduled for 9 p.m. Saturday and will be visible from many points along the bayfront, including the Coronado Ferry Landing, the Embarcadero, Harbor Island and Shelter Island.

County of San Diego officials are offering up the Waterfront Park, in front of the County Administration Center, as a viewing location.

The display will be broadcast live on Fox5 San Diego and KTLA in Los Angeles beginning at 8 p.m. Music will be simulcast on The Mighty 1090 AM and Max 105.7 FM.

San Diegans can also kick off the holiday a day early. The county's first major fireworks displays are set for Friday night in Oceanside and San Ysidro.
