Good news about gas prices

Drivers in the county pay an average price of $3.44 for a gallon of self-serve unleaded. About seven cents higher than last month and close to one dollar more than at this time last year. But the Auto Club's Paul

Gonzales says drivers may get a break in the next few weeks:

Gonzales: "It looks like prices in San Diego may be finding a plateau and also we're seeing evidence around in other communities around the state where that they're reaching a plateau and that could be the highest that we reach. That's not a promise that there won't be further increases, but it looks like our real sharp increases maybe at an end now."

Gonzales says the nation's oil refineries are producing more gas, increasing supplies at the same time people have reduced their driving, helping to stabilize or lower prices. Ed Joyce, KPBS News.
