Tom Fudge : All good journalism seeks to tell the truth. But the versions of the truth a newspaper or broadcast medium presents can be very different. We have seen a dramatic example of this in the way the Arab cable channel, Al Jazeera, has covered the war in Iraq.
Rami Khouri is an Arab journalist, though he doesn’t work for Al Jazeera. He is the executive editor of the Beirut-based newspaper, the Daily Star . The Star is the largest English-language newspaper published throughout the Middle East.
Mr. Khouri is in San Diego to speak tonight as part of San Diego State University's Center for Islamic and Arabic Studies. The lecture is free, open to the public, and starts at 7 p.m. in the Arts and Letters building, room 201, on the campus of San Diego State University.
