San Diego Emergency Communication Receives High Marks
Tom Fudge: San Diego may not have a bounty of resources to respond to emergencies. But when it comes to communication during disasters, our region is among the best in the nation.
That was the conclusion of a panel of observers from the federal Department of Homeland Security. The observers evaluated 75 U.S. metropolitan areas. San Diego was among the top six, in terms of its ability to communicate during a disaster. In fact, the feds actually got to see the local system in action, since they visited the area during July’s Horse fire in East County.
Yesterday, city and county officials talked about the evaluation at a news conference.
