Alison St John (Guest Host): It's been called an economic tragedy for Chula Vista and San Diego County, now that the developer, Gaylord, has pulled out of plans to build a billion dollar hotel and convention center complex on the Chula Vista waterfront. The project was 4 years in the making; it's the seventh attempt to develop the site that has gone south, and it was the keystone of plans for the 550-acre waterfront, including a possible stadium for the Chargers.
Gaylord blamed labor unions for scuttling the deal. Some observers say Mayor Cheryl Cox could have played a more active role to bring negotiations between Gaylord and the unions to a better conclusion. As the dust settles, we wanted to ask Mayor Cox what she plans to do to lead the city out of this morass.
