California DMV Uses YouTube to Spread Training Videos
The DMV is using a popular website to connect with teenagers. The agency has posted videos on YouTube showing how to pass the California driver's test. More than 50 short videos cover subjects like unsafe lane changes, how to avoid being hit by a light rail train, and being overly cautious during a driving exam.
Voiceover : Some people think that being extra cautious will help them pass their driving test. Caution is good but too much can create traffic hazards.
Jan Mendoza with the California Department of Motor Vehicles says they're trying to remake the agency's public image. They're aiming to be friendlier and less bureaucratic.
Mendoza : We're constantly looking for ways to reach out to our teen drivers, our new drivers, and YouTube seemed to be the most logical solution for that.
She says California's Department of Motor Vehicles has more videos on the site than any other state agency in the country.
