Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says MTS will get $9 million in Proposition 1B money. The funds will be used to replace older buses with new, more fuel efficient ones.

Schwarzenegger announced a total of $136 million for projects throughout the state during a news conference at the Fashion Valley Transit Center in Mission Valley.

Schwarzenegger : Right here in San Diego they will use more than $9 million to replace all the buses for fuel efficient models and bringing the San Diego region's total money from transit bonds to nearly $36 million this year alone.

The Governor says the money will create construction jobs while reducing traffic congestion.

Proposition 1B is a $20 billion infrastructure bond approved by voters in 2006.
