Tom Fudge: Global warming has arrived, and it's already affecting our environment. We don't know how much of an effect it will have in the future, but our primary concern will be the impact on fresh water supplies. Fresh water is what makes life possible, and any disruption in its supply is bound to have a profound impact on life. Global warming won't necessarily reduce fresh water resources, but it will affect rainfall patterns. It'll cause the ocean to rise and more precipitation to fall as rain, rather than snow.
