Proposition A, the parcel tax to raise money for more fire protection for San Diego, narrowly failed to win the necessary two thirds vote to pass. 

County Supervisor Greg Cox :


 Cox: It did come together rather quickly, and I think it was not vetted as much as it should have been to gain more support. If it’s going to be successful,  we’ve got to have the support of not only all the cities but all the fire fighting agencies, and we had some of the fire chiefs that were opposed to it.

Cox says without the money from Prop A, the County may not have the funds next year to lease the super scooper fire fighting aircraft that helped put out two wildfires last month.
