Tom Fudge : Change is a constant in all of our lives, and change is coming to this program, These Days. Today is my last day as host of the program. Yes, you’ll hear my voice on the air tomorrow. But that program was pre-recorded. Today, I’m done.
I’ve been the host of These Days on KPBS for nine-and-a-half years, non-stop. And it’s been a blast. It’s been a privilege to speak directly to you, the KPBS audience, and to hear directly from some of you through call-ins. It’s been a privilege to interview the hundreds, maybe thousands of fascinating people who have come through our studios. It’s also been a lot of hard work. And now it’s time to turn that task, and that privilege, over to someone else.
After the first of the year, Maureen Cavanaugh will be the host of These Days. You’ll know her from her many years of being on Morning Edition. Soon, she’ll be able to sleep in a little bit more. The top-notch These Days production and engineering staff will not go away. They’ll still be working on the show.
As for me… I’ll still be in the building, lending some advice to the These Days staff when it’s needed, and working as a journalist at KPBS. You may hear me fill in, as These Days host, from time to time. But I’m moving on, with nothing but fond memories of the many years I spent hosting this talk show. Thanks to all of you who listened. I hope you keep listening, and I hope we stay in touch.
