Is Online News the Future?

Maureen Cavanaugh : Our nation's founders often linked a healthy democracy with the workings of a free and unfettered press. But now many of those presses are not too healthy themselves.

The newspaper business was already hurting before the recession hit. And some of the nation's great papers may not survive the current hard times.  As sad that is, it doesn't necessarily mean the public won't have anywhere to turn for serious news. There is always public radio and TV of course.  But there are also news providers springing up on the Internet that may eventually become the "news source of record".
