CA Lawmakers Can't Compromise After Debating Budget Over Weekend
Maureen Cavanaugh: Who says nothing gets done by the legislature in Sacramento? They spent the whole weekend working on the budget deal worked out last week by Governor Schwarzenegger and key lawmakers. And, when it came to the big vote on the measure to cover the state's $42 billion shortfall, the measure failed by one vote.
No wonder, members of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors gave state legislators a piece of their minds during a visit to Sacramento last week. The supervisors say a lawsuit is in the works to force the state to continue to make welfare and foster care payments to the county while lawmakers continue to argue about the budget deficit.
